He was telling Balak that militarily he didn’t stand a chance against GOD. BUT if he could get to them emotionally, mentally, and spiritually; cause them to turn away from GOD, GOD would withdraw his blessing from Israel, and they would be an easy target.
There are times when we try to do GOD’s job for him. We are unwilling to really listen to what GOD is saying; choosing to engage in the practice of “selective hearing” so we can do what we want. Choosing this way of thinking was the downfall of Israel and it is the downfall of many believers as well.
REV 2:12-14, “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of HIM Who has the sharp, double-edged sword. (Yeshua) I know where you live where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to MY name. You did not renounce your faith in ME, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city where Satan lives. Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality.
