The Spirit Of '43 (1943) is a Walt Disney cartoon starring Donald Duck, set during World War II. He's torn between being frugal, and saving his money so he can do his patriotic duty (paying taxes!) or binge his pay on himself.

Oddly, his frugal side sounds remarkably like Scrooge McDuck. And there's NO subtlety about the spendthrift character
