BAIER: “Josh, first to you. You know, our concerns and the justices on the Supreme Court specifically pointed to taking data, keeping data, even private messages, that this company has the ability to do. The question is what happens next?”
KRAUSHAAR: “There are serious national security concerns with TikTok and there have been for many years. It is striking that everyone seems to be having cold feet on the TikTok ban. Everyone from President Biden who doesn’t want to implement the law on its final day in office. Chuck Schumer has been desperately trying to get Democrats not to — or distance themselves from the votes that they took banning TikTok and President Trump is just trying to make a deal when he takes office, perhaps the delay in the implementation of this law. Look, it’s pretty — I thought it was really interesting when you interviewed Mike Waltz, the incoming national security adviser, this week, Bret because he said that the algorithm for TikTok was amazing. And it’s the algorithm that a lot of national security officials, a lot of Republicans are really concerned about that they are pushing anti-American, anti-Semitic divisive propaganda to young Americans and that’s part of the reason why it received so much bipartisan opposition in the first place. So it’s going to be fascinating to see how Trump handles this situation but it’s a real national security issue and the Supreme Court recognized that.”
