壽司何以都盛放在圓形漆盤內呢？有人說圓形漆盤象徵「人和」，但並非真正的原因。其實這是歷史上發生的某個重大事件，所促成的結果。
從前壽司用瓷盤盛裝是稀鬆平常的事，但由於大正12年關東發生了大地震，東京所有壽司店的大瓷盤全都震破了，從此之後江戶前壽司便改用漆盤盛裝。
