Man charged after dragging MSP trooper in Saginaw, dashcam released

A man accused of dragging a state trooper during a traffic stop in Saginaw has been arraigned on multiple felony counts.

Michigan State Police (MSP) said on Tuesday, Jan. 14, a trooper who was conducting a traffic stop in Saginaw was dragged for about half a block by a 31-year-old driver.

The trooper was able to break free and wasn’t injured, MSP said.

The suspect, now identified as Emilio Santiago-Cruz Martinez, was arrested at his home a short while later.

Martinez was arraigned on Jan. 16. He has been charged with the following felonies:

* Two counts of felonious assault
* One count of third-degree fleeing
* One count of assaulting a police officer/resisting and obstructing
* One count of possessing narcotics under 25 grams
* One count of possession of a firearm as a felon
* One count of possession of ammunition as a felon
* One count of weapons felony firearm
* One count of operating a vehicle with a suspended license
