Apam Balik is a popular Malaysian street food, often enjoyed as a sweet crepe filled with various toppings. Food Fusion has shared a delightful recipe for Chocolate Apam Balik Crepes, which combines the traditional flavors with a rich chocolate twist.
**Ingredients:**
- **Dry Ingredients:**
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup caster sugar
- A pinch of salt
- **Wet Ingredients:**
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Approximately 1 cup water (adjust as needed)

- Melted butter
- Grated chocolate
- Condensed milk
**Instructions:**
1. **Prepare the Batter:**
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sifted all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, caster sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the egg and vanilla essence to the dry mixture. Gradually pour in water while whisking continuously until a smooth batter forms. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.
- Cover the bowl and let the batter rest for 30 minutes.
2. **Cook the Crepes:**
- Lightly grease an 8-inch non-stick frying pan with melted butter and heat over low flame.
- Pour approximately ½ cup of the batter into the pan, spreading it evenly to form a thin layer.
- Cover the pan and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes, or until the crepe is cooked through and slightly golden.
3. **Assemble the Apam Balik:**
- Remove the crepe from the pan and place it on a flat surface.
- While it's still warm, apply a thin layer of melted butter over the surface.
- Sprinkle grated chocolate evenly over half of the crepe. Drizzle condensed milk over the chocolate.
- Fold the crepe in half to enclose the filling, pressing gently to seal.
- Optionally, cut into smaller pieces for serving.
4. **Serve:**
- Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Chocolate Apam Balik Crepes!
