He allegedly was texting his gambling partner from the locker room during games giving information on his injury status and whether he would return to the game or not. This allowed his gambling partner to take advantage of the betting markets, which Porter benefited financially from. Porter made $2.8 million from the NBA and was paid roughly $21,000 for his inside information given to his gambling partner.
