ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH-WHEN THEY WERE ASLEEP, THE ENEMY CAME IN

In the early days of the railroad, long before automatic switches were invented, a man had to manually make the switch in the direction of a train. If that man were asleep at the switch, he would miss his responsibilities, and the train would not reach its destination.
When the spirit of God says, "Don't be asleep at the switch," I know exactly what he means. George, wake up and pay attention. There's a change coming.
The Scriptures tell us that "God gives his beloved sleep." They also tell us that "every good and perfect gift comes from the Father above."
So, what is this sleep business? Is it good or bad?
Well, it's both. There is the sleep of the righteous—the gift that God has given us to lay our heads on the pillow, recuperate, and be healed in our bodies. As we sleep, we dream, and God speaks to us in those dreams. 
That's very good.
On the other hand, there is a deceptive sleep that causes us to miss the opportunities that God has presented us with. The disciples were asleep in the garden while Jesus made his greatest decisions concerning the cross.
The disciples' eyes were so heavy that they could not stay awake at the most significant historical junction, which changed the world forever.
The scriptures admonish us to wake up and smell the coffee. Well, maybe not in those exact words, but you get the point.
Jesus woke the disciples up and asked them, "Couldn't you just watch with me for one hour?" The scriptures tell us they didn't have an answer. They didn't even know what was going on.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you righteous sleep that brings answers. When you do, you will find that you do not sleep at important spiritual junctions in your life. Satan has a hard time deceiving Saints who are awake.
