PREDATORY LENDERS: WORSE THAN BLACKMAILERS

When people go to these lenders they are desperate. Next to the shylocks occupying a permanent booth in a Russian restaurant, these ‘legal’ lenders are the worst. Under cover of legality they prey on the ignorant, desperate, or both.

I’ve seen and heard their ads and realize they can be tempting, but with interest rates as high as 38% they’re less than illicit, they’re scoundrels. Not too many years ago [before Bill Clinton came to power] such rates were the province of organized crime and people went to prison for these practices.
