Just A Chill Dog

Huskies, like many cold-adapted animals, use a countercurrent heat exchange mechanism in their blood flow to maintain body temperature in extreme cold.
This mechanism occurs in their limbs, where arteries carrying warm blood from the core run closely alongside veins returning cooler blood from the extremities.
Heat transfers from the warm arterial blood to the cooler venous blood before it returns to the body core.
This minimizes heat loss by keeping the extremities cool while conserving warmth in the body’s core.
This adaptation allows huskies to thrive in freezing temperatures while maintaining energy efficiency and avoiding frostbite in their extremities.
