LETTING GO OF THE NEED TO ALWAYS BE RIGHT
Proverbs 16:32 New King James Version
32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
GOOD EVENING IN YESHUA EVERYBODY!!!
No matter how many times I read this passage of scripture from James, I am not only reminded of what it means to think before I speak, but today I really learned something new out of this, that I didn't think I would. Monica LaRose, this morning's devotional writer, was trying to get a very interesting point across in this morning’s devotional, about surrendering our need to be right. That like Julia Galef suggested so very well, many of us have that “soldier mindset”, the need to always want to be right, even when we're wrong, but especially at the expense of others. This is something I struggle with guys, and I think that's why the questions that were in this morning's devotional really challenged my heart and I had to share them with you tonight. Please read these questions carefully, especially this first one, and I pray that God speaks to you through them.
What examples have you seen of a spirit of humble willingness to learn and change?
Tonight, my friends, I'd like to share some things that God showed me from this morning scripture, as well as other verses from God's word, about this issue, through this vlog I'd like to share with all of you tonight, and I pray that what I share with you will help you to want to be right in God's eyes, not yours, but most of all how to think before you speak, by wanting to search out the whole truth, so that you can develop a willingness to learn from others. Come join me in this vlog tonight my friends and see just what I mean! 😊
So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to leave you with this final question from this morning's devotional, and I pray that it gives you a desire to want to learn from others, see the whole truth for yourself, and want to change in Christ
How can you cultivate a willingness to learn from others?
My prayer for all of you is something I'm praying for myself, and that is this.
Heavenly father, I have a very big issue in my life where I want to prove that I'm right even when I'm wrong. In particular, I have this drive, this desire to want to not just prove I'm right, but to prove it against someone who constantly belittles me and says I'm wrong, and the weird part of this Lord, is that the person that has been doing this to me, has been dead for over 8 years! I need your help heavenly father to surrender my need to always be right, to be willing to seek out the whole truth in every situation, be willing to admit what I'm genuinely wrong, and when I am right, to Please remember that each moment of my life is dependent on God's grace, not me so that I can let go of that need to always be right.
