Los Angeles residents are calling for Mayor Karen Bass's resignation following her handling of the 2025 wildfires. A Change.org petition, which has garnered over 86,000 signatures, accuses Bass of "gross mismanagement" during the crisis. Critics highlight her absence at the onset of the fires due to attending the Ghanaian president's inauguration, 7,400 miles away. Additionally, Bass's $17.6 million budget cut to the Los Angeles Fire Department for the 2024-25 fiscal year has faced scrutiny. The wildfires have led to nearly 130,000 evacuation orders and resulted in 11 deaths.
