Abnormal liver function tests: AST, ALT can predate type 2 diabetes years in advance. in fact, a raised GGT is a common indicator of fatty liver disease.
Fatty liver is not only caused by alcohol but also by elevated insulin levels in the body. Elevated insulin is a direct result of Elevated blood sugar.
