USA! Shocking Footage of LA's Devastating Wildfires - Watch NOW!
Since January 7, wildfires have been raging in the Los Angeles area of California. They have become some of the most destructive in the region's history. At least 10 people have died in the fires, but the exact number of casualties will only be determined once safe access to the affected areas is secured.
More than 150,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes. Approximately 10,000 structures have been destroyed by the flames. The damage has already surpassed $57 billion, and the fires continue to consume new areas.
The Palisades Fire engulfed the coastal region between Malibu and Santa Monica, spreading at a terrifying pace. In Pacific Palisades, the fire expanded from 10 to 200 acres in just 12 minutes. By Friday morning, it had grown to 19,000 acres and was only 6% contained. The affected areas include Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and other affluent neighborhoods. Many celebrity homes were destroyed. Malibu, known as the backdrop for iconic films and TV series, has been nearly wiped off the map.
Local and federal resources have been deployed to combat the fires, but even with such a massive response, the flames have proven difficult to control quickly.
The Eaton Fire, the second most destructive blaze, erupted in northern Los Angeles, impacting Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre. The fire scorched more than 13,000 acres and remained completely uncontained three days later. Witnesses described the scene as both terrifying and surreal.
For local residents, the disaster has been a true tragedy. People have lost everything — their homes, belongings, and even their pets. One survivor shared that all he had left was his car, while neighbors clung to hope that their families and animals had managed to escape in time.
Another fire, the Sunset Fire, broke out Wednesday evening in the Hollywood Hills, threatening major landmarks, including the iconic Walk of Fame and the Dolby Theatre.
These fires have become so destructive due to a combination of factors. During these days, Southern California experienced the most powerful storm in a decade, with winds reaching up to 100 miles per hour. The winds scattered embers over vast distances and severely hindered aerial firefighting efforts. Extreme drought had dried out vegetation, turning it into perfect fuel for the fires, while a lack of water in reservoirs further complicated efforts to contain the inferno.
The events in California starkly highlight humanity’s complete unpreparedness for escalating natural disasters. To understand what’s happening, why it’s occurring, and how to protect your home and loved ones, tune into the forum "Global Crisis. The Responsibility."
