In this 367th episode of The Political Spotlight, Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey welcomes back to the show for the first time in the new year Dr. Katherine Callahan, our correspondent from the Anderson, Madison County area, to examine what the citizens of Madison County can expect from their elected officials in 2025.

This year, some "new" players will be introduced to local politics in Madison County, while some "old" players will reappear in new positions.

Who will step up and take the lead? How will those people work with others, and how will they treat the citizens who employ them?

Also, it seems as if Madison County GOP Party Boss Russ Willis dodged a bullet recently, as a special prosecutor found that although Willis had acted illegally when he blocked a citizen from attempting to watch a recent vote count - nothing further will happen punishment-wise to Willis because the Madison County Election Board acted quickly to make sure that behavior never happens again.

But how many more "near-misses" does Willis have?

He is still facing a second complaint filed against him with the Election Board regarding campaign finance issues. And Willis will also face what will surely be an uphill battle to be "re-elected" as chairman of the County Republican Party later in the spring. One way or another, Willis' days as "king political gatekeeper" and being a significant roadblock to transparency and good governance seem to be coming to a close! Time will tell.

And lastly, there seems to be renewed interest in locating WANTED FUGITIVE STEVEN C. SUMNER, former Madison County Councilor, that is wanted on 18 counts of serious sexual crimes against minor children who were in his care, including RAPE OF A MINOR!

That interest might be from citizens stepping up and outside sources starting to listen, but at this point, whatever works! His time is short, and he will be found. When that happens, WHO WILL HE TAKE DOWN WITH HIM, POLITICALLY SPEAKING? ONLY TIME WILL TELL!
