Protégé: James Bowie's Adopted Alamo Defender

During the epic Battle of the Alamo, a small group of Texian and Tejano combatants withstood a siege for roughly two weeks by a statistically more significant Mexican military power.

Nevertheless, that lesser group of men stood their ground until the end. Out of the approximately 200 defenders that fell that day, eight freedom fighters were Tejanos (Texans of Spanish heritage). One of those Tejano defenders was a young man at only 17—a teenager remembered by history as Carlos Espalier.
