LuGRE: Testing GNSS Capabilities from the Moon!
11
The Lunar GNSS Receiver Experiment (LuGRE) will investigate whether signals from two Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) constellations, the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS) and European Union’s Galileo, can be tracked at the Moon and used for positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT). This experiment is a collaborative effort between NASA and the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The receiver was developed by Qascom, an Italian aerospace company. LuGRE is a part of the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative and is hosted on Firefly Aerospace's “Blue Ghost" lunar lander.
