Man Calls 911 to Lure Police, Charges with Knife, and is Fatally Shot – Shocking #Bodycam #Footage

Anchorage police revealed chilling details about a deadly encounter on September 29, where 24-year-old James Afuvai was shot and killed after making three suspicious 911 calls. Body cam footage shows Afuvai running at an officer with a large knife, ignoring repeated commands to stop.

The incident began when Afuvai made his first call at 7:15 PM, claiming someone was in trouble but refusing to provide further details. Two subsequent calls included misleading information about shots fired and a shattered window, with Afuvai pressing dispatchers to send officers quickly.

When the officer arrived, Afuvai approached with a 14-inch knife. As the officer retreated and gave commands, Afuvai suddenly charged, forcing the officer to fire in self-defense. Anchorage Police Chief Sean Case explained that mental health teams were en route but had not arrived before the shooting. The investigation found no evidence to support Afuvai’s claims about prior crimes or danger in the area.
