Luk 2:1-3 Now in those days (c. 3 BC), it came about that Caesar Augustus sent out a decree ordering that registration of loyalty oaths be procured from all the people living in the world. (2) This was the first registration of loyalty oaths to Caesar collected while P. Sulpicius Quirinius was the imperial representative in Syria. (3) So everyone went to his hometown to register his loyalty oath to Caesar.
