Investigating Hinduism, Pt. 1 - Eastern Religions Research

In preparation for the fourth installment of my series on a Comparison of Religions, I'll be investigating eastern religions. The most primary of which, is Hinduism. After learning about gnosticism, I'm interested to see how many similar ideas there are between eastern and western mysticism. Do they really both originate from the same school of thought? Let's find out.
