Awaken Biblical Prophecy Commentary – The Separation of God’s People

God has two distinct peoples He calls His own. One group is the Jews; the other is Christians. Both are considered God’s children. Israel is God’s holy land where he has placed His Name. Remember, the people of Israel were always called the children of Israel. Descended from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, they had a special lineage and peculiar destiny. They have a very special relationship to God. Through them was to come the Savior of the world. As such they were to be a blessing to all mankind bringing light and life. When anyone, Jew or Gentile, repents and places his faith and trust in this Savior, Jesus Christ, that person becomes a child of God. Of course, the major difference is that the children of Israel are living largely in disobedience because they rejected their Messiah, Jesus Christ, when He first came to reveal Himself to humanity and to call us out of darkness.
