The Menendez brothers' case began on August 20, 1989, when Lyle Menendez called 911 to report that their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, had been murdered in their Beverly Hills home.

As we soon found out, Erik (18) and Lyle (21), murdered their parents with 12 Gauge shotguns in the den of their home.

The brothers were charged with the murders and went on trial. During the televised trial, they claimed that their father sexually abused them for years, but prosecutors argued that the brothers were motivated by financial gain. The jury could not reach a verdict, so the brothers went on to a second trial where they were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Thirty-five years later, the case has become even more popular with the release of Netflix's Monsters.
The home, located at 722 N. Elm Drive in Beverly Hills, Ca, still stands.

This episode dives into the murder investigation and visits key locations involved in the case.
