Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Resigns

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces his intention to step down as prime minister and Liberal leader once his party has chosen a new leader. Trudeau also announces that Governor General Mary Simon has granted his request for the prorogation of Parliament until March 24.
