Most of the laminators I have tried have been A3 sized, but this new one from LADISHAN is a compact A4. Priced at just £29.99 before discounts - and yes, there are always discounts, this has to be a good price for a powerful yet simple to use home office essential such as this. .

In the rather plain box are the laminator itself with a built-in the corner trimmer, a pack of sample lamination pouches of different sizes and a large and easy to read user guide. There should also have been a edge trimmer but there was no sign of it in the box I received.

The build quality seems fine, lightweight but well made and robust enough for home use. The device has an A4 document entry slot on the front face with document size guides clearly marked with the selector switch for power on/off next to it. On the top are status LEDs for heating, and operating temperature confirmation. On the rear is the document exit slot, the ABS jam quick release button and the hard-wired power cord with a UK three-pin plug

Using the device is simple enough. Switch on at the front and wait about 2 minutes for the green LED to come on which indicates the lamination temperature has been reached. Place your document into a lamination pouch and insert the pouch closed end first into the front slot. It will then emerge fully sealed from the rear. It will work with pouches up to A4 (210 x 297 mm) wide with a lamination speed of up to 360 mm per minute. Should a jam occur, switch the unit off and hold in the ABS button on the rear to release it.

Formerly a separate item, the basic but nicely designed document trimmer is now fixed to the top of the unit itself. This works well and is handy to trim the photos and pouches to size. Build quality is again lightweight but it works well and is worth the effort to take care of.

This is a nice, well designed device that works well with a minimum of fuss and bother. It is fine for home use but probably not heavy duty enough for long term office use. A very decent buy nevertheless for the price.
