Tandoori Shrimp I Oven Baked Tandoori Shrimp/Prawns Recipe I Tandoori Jhinga I India On A Plate

Shrimp or Prawns are first marinated in yogurt/curd, lemon juice & spices for 8 hours/overnight then cooked in an oven at 425*F/220*C for 3 minutes. I have served Tandoori Shrimp with Onion slices & Yogurt/Curd-Mint Sauce.

Ingredients For Marinating Shrimp/Prawns
1.5 LBS or about 21 large shrimp or prawns - peeled & deveined
2 tbsp plain hung yogurt/curd
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp mustard oil
1 tbsp Besan/Gram Flour/Chick Peas Flour
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp roasted garlic powder or 1 tbsp garlic paste
1/2 tsp ginger powder or 1 tbsp ginger paste
1 tsp hand crushed dry fenugreek/Methi leaves
1 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
Salt to taste

Ingredients For Making Yogurt/Curd Mint Sauce:
1/4 cup yogurt/curd for blender
1 cup yogurt/curd - whisked
1 clove of garlic
1 tsp ginger-green chili paste
1 bunch mint leaves - stems discarded
Salt to taste

Cooking Instructions/Method:
Preheat oven to 425*F/220*C
Add all ingredients listed for marinating shrimp/prawns above to a bowl
Mix well, cover with lid and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight
Next remove marinated shrimp/prawns from fridge an hour before cooking
Mix well then skewer shrimp on 3 skewers; about 7 per skewer
Place skewers on baking tray as shown in video above & and bake for 3 minutes. Remove shrimp from oven & from the skewers once done
Brush shrimp with melted butter, set aside

While shrimp is being cooked in oven prepare your Yogurt/Curd Mint Sauce:
Add all ingredients listed above for this sauce to a blender, except for 1 cup whisked yogurt/curd
Blend to a smooth paste then remove mixture from blender and pour it into a bowl. Add remaining (1 cup) yogurt that we didn't add to the blender
mixing it gently to the mixture in the bowl & your sauce is ready!
Wala! Your Tandoori Shrimp/Prawns are done!
Serve our delicious Tandoori Shrimp with the Yogurt-Mint Sauce that we just made & sliced onions seasoned with salt & red chili powder to taste!
