Burning with Fire

The concept of soul mates unified is intriguing. As one we are told they had unique characteristics being physically and mentally strong with incredible talents. Plato’s take on it was that because of pride or possibly even contentment as in not feeling the need to worship the gods, Zeus being powerful, spilt them in half so they were destined to walk the earth continually searching for their other half.

Rejecting the concept of a soul mate as myth is easily done, but the fact there in no smoke without fire raises the question whether in life one is truly fortunate enough to be with one’s perfect complement or does an individual settle for less? Marriage as a bond of union that so often ends in divorce, unhappiness or folly.

Possibly there is a gnawing away deep inside which for the most with busy lives can be ignored but maybe, just maybe, every now and then a feeling arises to the surface beyond the acceptance that life is suffering for what is missing and needed to be truly free and experience the full power of love.
