Sandy Springs uses PIT maneuver on a drunk driver to end pursuit

Sandy Springs police chased down a woman accused of driving while impaired on New Year’s Day.

At around 11:10 p.m., an officer tried to pull over a speeding car on GA 400 at Spalding Drive. But the driver refused to stop, kickstarting a chase that led onto I-285 E and Buford Highway, police said.

Dashcam video shared on social media showed that police had to use a precision immobilization technique (PIT) several times before the driver stopped.

The woman, who has not been identified, faces charges of speeding, improper lane change, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, hit-and-run and DUI.
