"Patience Running Out" For Hezbollah As Israel Violates Truce To Extend Presence In South Lebanon

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem warned Israel that Hezbollah's patience over ceasefire violations in Lebanon might run out. Speaking on January 4, Qassem emphasized that resistance is a cultural, religious, political, and jihadi choice. He stressed that Hezbollah’s actions are not dictated by a fixed timeline but by the decision to confront Israeli violations when the time is right. He referred to the 1982 Lebanon war, recalling Hezbollah's resistance until the land was liberated. Qassem also claimed that Israel's military presence in southern Lebanon could extend beyond the ceasefire’s 60-day deadline, citing Hezbollah’s ongoing strength. Meanwhile, Israel’s forces continue to operate in southern Lebanon despite the truce and face accusations from UNIFIL of violating Lebanese sovereignty.
