Episode 510: Overcoming the battle with the sins of my flesh Part 1

Hello everyone. In today's Bible study we take a brief look at the believer's daily battle with sins.

Wait, what?! True born again believers are new creatures in Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit and they DO NOT SIN!

Really? Are you yourself a living testament to the statement above? Are you willing to declare that since the day God saved you, that you have not sinned? I didn't think so.

Let me share with you the two methods God has provided for His children to overcome the sins of our own fleshly desires which originates from our minds (soul) and our cursed bodily desires (lusts).

He is God's side:
Romans 8:9-14
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

God's commandment to His children - The believers side:
Romans 12:1-2
Living Sacrifices to God
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

In the believer's DAILY walk with our Heavenly Father there must be two deaths. One by the Spirit of God and the other by YOU! One without the other will not work. The Holy Spirit will do His part as He is God, is always faithful and cannot fail.

The problem resides with YOU and I. Paul learned this truth and revealed it to us in Romans 7 - 12. He found the answer - "I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I DIE DAILY". 1 Cor. 15:31

And again:

As it is written: “FOR YOUR SAKE, WE ARE KILLED ALL DAY LONG;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Romans 8:36

And yet again:
2 Cor. 4:7-12
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.

Oh beloved and my friends, once you know and understand fully this truth, you will fall more deeply in love with the word of God, for in it is true life through the Spirit of the Living God.
