Washington Post cartoonist Ann Telnaes has resigned after her satirical drawing, which mocked the publication's proprietor Jeff Bezos and other media and tech leaders for bending the knee to President-elect Donald Trump, was rejected.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning artist announced her resignation in a post on Friday.

“I have received editorial critiques and engaged in constructive dialogues—and some disagreements—concerning cartoons I have submitted for publication, but throughout all that time I've never had a cartoon rejected due to who or what I decided to direct my pen toward. Until now,” she stated.

Telnaes has been with the Washington Post since 2008. She characterized the unpublished political cartoon, explaining it “attacks the billionaire tech and media executives who have been striving to win the favor of incoming President-elect Trump. ”

The cartoon featured Facebook and Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Los Angeles Times publisher Patrick Soon-Shiong, the “Walt Disney Company/ABC News” illustrated as Mickey Mouse, and Washington Post owner Bezos.
