Apple’s $95M Siri Settlement: Is Your Privacy at Risk?
Apple, the tech giant famed for its privacy-first mantra, is making headlines—but not for the right reasons. The company has agreed to a $95 million settlement after a lawsuit alleged Siri recorded conversations without user consent and even shared recordings with advertisers for targeted ads.
This class-action lawsuit, filed in California, accuses Apple of violating its own privacy promises—a core value CEO Tim Cook once called a fundamental human right.
If the settlement is approved, millions of users with Siri-enabled devices (2014–2023) could be eligible for compensation—up to $20 per device. But don’t wait—claims must be filed, and only 3–5% of users are expected to act.
While this settlement barely scratches Apple’s $705 billion in profits since 2014, it raises questions:
Is Apple still the champion of privacy, or are cracks starting to show?
How much do we really know about how our devices handle our data?
