[Scientific and technological innovation] A new sewage denitrification technology of CSCEC Huaneng won the first prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association. Recently, the China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association (hereinafter referred to as the "China Water Supply Association") officially released the decision of the Science and Technology Award of the China Water Supply Association in two thousand twenty-four. The project of "carbon saving sewage deep denitrification technology and modular equipment R&D and application", led by CSCEC Huaneng Technology Co., Ltd. and jointly completed by the Ecological Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiaxing United Sewage Treatment Co., Ltd. and other units, won the first prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Water Supply Association in two thousand twenty-four. The Science and Technology Award of China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association, as the most authoritative award in the urban water supply and drainage industry, aims to promote technological innovation and progress in the industry, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and motivate units that have made outstanding contributions in the technological progress of the industry. This year, a total of thirteen award-winning projects were awarded, including three first prizes and ten second prizes. This project aims to meet the needs of green upgrading and low-carbon development of sewage treatment technology. In response to the high dependence of traditional deep denitrification technology on external organic carbon sources, high denitrification costs, and complex system operation, as well as the shortcomings of poor environmental adaptability and low efficiency of autotrophic denitrification technology, breakthroughs and innovations have been made in four aspects: functional material research and development, process control technology research, adaptation equipment development, carbon emissions and ecological security evaluation. A carbon saving deep denitrification technology and equipment based on new composite materials have been developed. The project forms four new types of denitrification carrier fillers and two categories of integrated sewage treatment equipment, achieving deep denitrification of sewage without external organic carbon sources. In addition, the system evaluated the full lifecycle carbon emission characteristics and ecological environment safety of the technology, achieving low-carbon, efficient, and safe reduction of total nitrogen pollutants in sewage. The achievements of the carbon saving sewage deep denitrification carrier filler and modular equipment project have been promoted and applied in municipal sewage treatment plants, town sewage treatment plants, overflow sewage and decentralized sewage treatment projects in multiple urban areas, effectively meeting the requirements of total nitrogen stability and energy-saving and carbon reducing sewage deep denitrification and reuse in urban sewage treatment plants. In the application project of carbon saving sewage deep denitrification technology equipment, Jianhuan Energy has a full chain technology product covering fine pretreatment, biochemical treatment, deep treatment, and sludge reduction in the field of urban sewage business.
