Legendary Argentine singer and songwriter Leo Dan, born Leopoldo Dante Tévez, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. A statement on Instagram invited fans to celebrate his life, love, and music. The family did not disclose the cause of death.

Born on March 22, 1942, in Villa Atamisqui, Santiago del Estero, Leo Dan rose to fame as a key figure in Argentina's "New Wave" of the 1960s and 1970s, alongside Palito Ortega and Leonardo Favio. Over his illustrious career, he recorded more than 20 albums, transitioning between Argentina and Mexico, where his early mariachi-inspired works resonated deeply with audiences.

Leo Dan's musical repertoire spanned Latin pop, soft rock, bolero, and Mexican folk, producing timeless hits like “Celia,” “Fanny,” “Cómo te extraño, mi Amor,” and “Te he prometido,” which featured in Alfonso Cuarón's Oscar-winning film Roma.

In 2012, he was honored with the Latin Grammy for Lifetime Achievement.

After a remarkable career, he announced his retirement in January 2024, marking the end of an era with a farewell U.S. tour. Leo Dan leaves behind an enduring legacy that shaped Latin American music and touched the hearts of millions worldwide.
