In the beginning God rested on the 7th day with man, a profound picture of the gospel that is now revealed. This rest pictured the rest of Christ in the tomb and the ultimate salvation of mankind so that we can enter into God's rest through Jesus. Yet these beautiful pictures do not mean that the Sabbath -- an eternal moral command and sign between God and His people -- has been done away with. Rather, the opposite is true. The meaning of the Sabbath has been fully revealed and we can now enjoy it as it was intended -- as a placeholder of eternity and reminder of Jesus until He returns.
