When It comes to connecting your retro video game systems to modern flat panel televisions there can be many different issues that you run into. Thankfully, Mike Chi from RetroTINK has developed a series of upscalers over the years that can take a crappy picture from 240p video sources and upscale it to 480p, 1080p, and now 4K. The RetroTINK 4K Pro is an amazing piece of hardware that looks and works tremendously, however it's costly. Mike has now developed and announced a brand new addition to the RetroTINK 4K family, this is the RetroTINK 4K CE. Designed to make 4K gaming upscaling more affordable, let's take a look at the new features of this upscaler along with the announcement of the return of the best budget upscaler to date.

From the RetroTINK website:
Same Core Platform: Built on the same hardware and firmware framework as the RT4KPRO, with a smaller FPGA that significantly reduces manufacturing costs.

Production Status: Manufacturing of the units is complete, and we are awaiting delivery of final accessories, the like SD cards, remote control and outer packaging.

Immediate Fulfillment: Once inventory arrives at our 3PL, we will announce a sale date and orders will ship immediately.

Pricing: $475 USD MSRP.

At a glance:
I look at the RT4K CE as the everyman's sort of 4K upscaler. It's one of those things that is still loaded with features, and it has all the inputs most people will want or need, period. Mike removed a few less-used features to bring the cost down, was able to use some off-the-shelf components, and provided an excellent solution at a reduced cost.

RetroTINK 2X MINI RETURNING!
As exciting as the CE is, the fact that the RetroTink Mini is coming back is super exciting, period. This is one of those solutions that simply works, its plug-and-play, and it delivers fantastic results. With the RetroTink 2X Mini, you get an upscaler that will line double from 240p to 480p, ideal for the Super Nintendo, NES, Genesis, and others and output via an HDMI connector.
