North York police are investigating a brazen early morning bank robbery where thieves used an excavator to smash into a Toronto bank, stealing an ATM containing an unknown amount of cash.

The heavy machinery was left at the scene, along with significant damage to the building.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
