Benny Blanco designed Selena Gomez’s marquise engagement ring with ‘special symbols’ of their love

Benny Blanco has created a one-of-a-kind marquise engagement ring for Selena Gomez, celebrating their love with intricate details. The music producer proposed to the 32-year-old singer earlier this month after a year of dating, working closely with Abril Barret designers Katherine Theofilos Claster and Stephanie Theofilos to bring his vision to life.

The stunning ring features a marquise-cut center stone in a cathedral setting, surrounded by an oversized brilliant-cut eternity band. The design is both modern and timeless, blending heirloom elegance with contemporary artistry. Blanco chose the marquise shape for its romantic history, as it dates back to King Louis XV, who commissioned the cut to resemble the lips of his lover, Marquise de Pompadour.

The connection between the ring and Gomez’s 2015 song “Good for You” hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans, with its lyrics referencing marquise diamonds. The choice of this unique cut reflects its symbolism of rarity and light, perfectly embodying Gomez’s persona.

The ring also incorporates hidden symbols of their love, with the designers focusing on “optimizing light” to enhance its ethereal quality. Blanco collaborated with the designers to select a diamond that resonated with Gomez, likening it to finding one’s soulmate.

“Benny had a very sharp idea of what he ultimately envisioned,” Theofilos Claster shared, describing the process as seamless. The final piece represents not just their love story but also Gomez’s individuality, making it a truly rare and meaningful creation.
