Car Hunting With EHR: Old Kustom & Other Cool Things (What Is It? Who Built It?)

I found an ad on FB marketplace for an old custom car. The front end treatment is odd, ugly even, and I clicked off it almost instantly. It kept popping up in my feed until I clicked on it again. That is when I was drawn in, not by the ugliness, but rather what lies beneath. This old custom is a Kustom! It has been sectioned, pancaked, and molded decades ago. Someone else went in and shaved the handles and removed the drip edge over the windshield and added in about the ugliest grill/bumper combo sometime in the '90s. I reached out to Mathew as my interest was too much to bare. He was a cool guy and gave about the most honest description of the car he could. This was a very rare case where the car was actually cooler and better looking in person than it was in pics. Mathew was a great guy and we had fun checking out the 1951 Ford Kustom as well has the other cool stuff he had like the rare 1957 Lincoln Mark II, 1962 Plymouth Valiant Convertible project, his grandpa's old '58 Ford F-100, and even a chopped '50 Plymouth custom that was his very first car. Mathew got the sectioned shoebox out of Louisiana a few years back, but doesn't know any of its previous history. We think it was a New England, or a northern car. It sure is unique.
