Slain teen's mom 'knew it was going to happen'

Tammy Smith, Surrell Gaines' mother, said he was a good student up until fourth or fifth grade. Then he lost interest. His life took a turn in another direction, Smith said, and he fell in with a rough crowd. "I knew and I pleaded with him. I told him what I saw coming and he didn’t listen, so this is the result of not listening," Smith said.
