US investigators are to join the official investigations into the South Korea plane crash disaster that killed 179 people.

Officials said one member from the US Federal Aviation Administration, three experts from the US National Transportation Safety Board and four representatives from Boeing were to assist South Korean officials.

The Boeing 737-800 plane operated by South Korean budget airline Jeju Air crashed at Muan airport on Sunday after aborting its first landing attempt for reasons that weren’t immediately clear.

During its second landing attempt, it received a bird strike warning from the ground control center before its pilot issued a distress signal.
