Gen 27:5
And Rebekah was listening while Isaac spoke to his son Esau.

So, when Esau went to the field to hunt for game to bring home, Rebecca probably had her eyes and ears open to this whole situation, she's going to deceive her husband into blessing her favorite son instead of his favorite son. Is that deceitful and dishonest? I would think so, it is, but who's the disobedient one here? Jacob is wanting to give a spiritual blessing to a son that doesn't care at all about these things. Rebecca, probably, maintained a strong relationship with Elohim, was going to take matters into her own hands, and make sure that that blessing went to Isaac instead of Esau.

Most commentators say she did that for the sake of her favorite son. Because if you'll remember, Esau was a hunter, Jacob stayed in the tents. What she was doing here, is not because it was, he was her favorite son, she had a reason for doing it.

Genesis 25:23
And the LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb; And two peoples shall be separated from your body; And one people shall be stronger than the other; And the older shall serve the younger.”

So, who did Elohim tell that to? Her, therefore, she's going to make sure it happens. Do you think Isaac was aware of this? Verse 23? Wouldn't have Rebecca have told him, you'd think sometime between the ages of 40 and 100 they would talk about some things. I don't know, he may have been stubborn about it. He didn't tell me that, you know, how some men can be, [laughter] I'm not stubborn, but I know my brother for instance, he's very stubborn. You say he talked to you, what? In the shower? That's the common thing nowadays, he may not have thought much of it, but Rebecca says I'm going to make sure this happens.
