Green onions in the snow

We plant onions in the garden in the fall so that there will be green shoots of onions in the spring. But very often the onions grow before the onset of winter cold. This is what happened this year. Most likely, this green onion will die due to bad winter weather. But in the spring the bulb will still give new green shoots.
