De facto leader says Syria could need several years to hold elections

Syria's de facto leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has warned in an interview that preparing for elections could take a few years. Syria's infrastructure, ravaged by civil war, and the vast numbers of displaced people were listed among the challenges, but it's still unclear whether his Islamist movement wants to move Syria towards democracy.
