2024: ANOTHER HELLISH YEAR FOR DRC

2024 has been a defining chapter in the story of Africa, particularly for the Democratic Republic of Congo. The vast nation yet again faced a series of challenges that highlight both its resilience and the systemic obstacles imposed by Western imperialism and neocolonial structures aimed at cheaply extracting its strategic resources.

In many ways, it is a reflection of Africa’s broader story, a tale of defiance in the face of exploitation - and the unwavering spirit of a continent striving for self-determination. Despite Congo’s displacement crises, humanitarian emergencies and violent incursions by armed groups such as M23, the Congolese people stand firm.

As we reflect on 2024, let it serve as a call to action for all Africans and people of African descent. The fight against neocolonialism is far from over, but it is a fight worth waging. The DRC’s challenges are Africa’s challenges and its victories will be Africa’s victories.
