Bible-Disbelieving "Christians" pt2. The Bible Canon vs Sola Scriptura

Streamed on:

"Sola Scriptura" isn't about venerating the Bible but about rejecting Church and historical authority. It allows one to use the Bible as a shield against uncomfortable questions, labelling them as heresy. How can a text finalised in the 4th century be the sole infallible source when the teachings it contains were known centuries earlier?

Reformation theology, as championed by Luther and Calvin, wove mystical elements into its fabric, emphasising direct, personal communion with God as central to faith. Their concepts like Luther's "inner man" and Calvin's "mystical union" with Christ reflect a mystical tradition that values individual spiritual experience over historical truth. This personal spiritual autonomy, however, is a Gnostic tendency prioritising personal revelation, deviating from and undermining the authority of scripture and historical church teachings.
