This is a required test of all aircraft to determine if they have safe handling characteristics.
At a safe altitude of 10,000 feet gives you time to bail out of the aircraft with your parachute if needed.
The RV3 is so stable that it is required to step on the rudder pedal in order to get it to spin and to get out of the spin just push the rudder straight and pull out of the dive.
