The most exciting things about travelling to Singapore is tasting all the amazing food the city has to offer. In this video I wanted to show you what I believe to be 5 of the best Singapore national dishes, iconic food that is integral part of the culture here in Singapore. Some of these you'll find them in any hawker food centre, others will require you to sit in a restaurant (such as in the case of the chilli crab).

0:00 - Singapore Food
0:35 - Kaya Toast
02:14 - Singapore Chilli Crab
05:33 - Bak kut teh
08:15 - Cloud Forest in Singapore
08:35 - Hainanese Chicken Rice
11:21 - Fis Soup Bee Hoon

Making this list are:

1) The National Breakfast in Singapore, Kaya Toast, a coconut jam toast of which there are 2 versions, the classic toast one and the fluffy one. I went for the latter in one of the most iconic hainanese 'kopitiam' in the city, YY Kafei Dian: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DP7tL3JXB6GWK...

2) The Singapore Chilli Crab, possible THE National dish in Singapore, a spectacular dish of chilli cooked in a tomatoey tangy and spicy sauce. Many restaurants in the city prepare this local delicacy, just make sure they inform yourself about the price beforehand as it can be pricey! I tried a delciious mud crab at Jumbo Seafood, right in the beautiful river walk in central Singapore: https://maps.app.goo.gl/N41zEwunVx48L...

3) Bak Kut Teh couldn't miss this list, the famous pork ribs broth common in both Malaysia and Singapore, especially among the Chinese Teochew community. I had this at NG AH SIO Bak Kut Teh (Rangoon Road), a highly rated popular small restaurant: https://maps.app.goo.gl/avHaNYV8zLiFA...

4) Hainanese Chicken Rice, the chicken dish for excellence of this city. You'll find this at every corner of the city; I just walked a few minutes from my hotel and found a good one at Sam Leong Hainanese Chicken Rice: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qJfdLF9izysi4...

5) Fish Soup Be Hoon is a staple both for breakfast and lunch in Singapore. A deliciously milky and fish flavoured soup with chunks of fried fish. You need to try this at Blanco Court Fried Fish Noodles, a small family run restaurant extremely popular among locals: https://maps.app.goo.gl/W12qtaisWfaPf...

That's all for this video, stay tuned as the Singapore food series continues!
