Three Arrested, One Shot by Mesquite Police After Gunfire Heard on I-30

On December 16, 2024, at 2:54 a.m. Mesquite Police Officers in the area of IH 30 and Sorrento Blvd. heard gunfire coming from eastbound IH 30. A few seconds later another officer observed the suspected vehicle exiting Gus Thomasson Rd. at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle exited it attempted to take the turnaround to continue west onto IH 30 but lost control and wrecked. Four males then fled the vehicle on foot.

The officer pursued one of the occupants on foot. During the foot pursuit, an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck multiple times. Officers performed life-saving measures and the suspect was transported to a local area hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition. A firearm was recovered from the scene.

The officer provided the descriptions of the other three suspects to other responding officers who were able to locate and arrest two of the additional suspects. Officers were unable to locate the fourth suspect. Multiple additional firearms were located inside the suspect vehicle.
