Lumumba's Africa. The Rwandan Genocide: 30 Years Later. Ep 15 | RT Documentary
6 months ago
1.1K
In 1994, Rwanda saw the genocide against the Tutsi. Between April and June, the Rwandan government allowed the mass killing of the Tutsi ethnic group. Estimates of the death toll range from 800,000 to 1 million—about 20% of the population. What caused this tragedy? Why did the international community do nothing for nearly 100 days to stop the massacre? Who helped save Rwanda? And were those responsible ever held accountable? Thirty years later, the Rwandan government is working to heal the wounds.
