This Was His Attitude After Hitting Cyclist With His Car

On January 4th, 2024, an off-duty officer observed a male driving erratically and followed him while informing the authorities. After the male hit a cyclist, the off-duty officer confronted him in a parking lot and detained him with the help of another officer. The male grew combative and was repeatedly asking to see his wife who was nowhere near the scene. When the male was first confronted by the off duty officers, he was held at gunpoint due to his aggressive demeanour. It was also reported that he justified his behaviour claiming he was fearing for his children who were in the car. The male’s wife was finally contacted and informed about the situation. One officer then thought to relay this information to the male so that he would calm down. The male was then taken to the detention centre for a preliminary breath test where he continued to be uncooperative and even accused a female officer of racism for not knowing his wife’s name after talking to her one single time. The male was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury and driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and resisting an officer without violence.
